I got another late start today, I have been so sleepy since arriving in Texas. I dubbed today however "job search day". I got around and headed for downtown. There is a Starbucks very close to the station so I decided to try there, and contrary to the signs posted inside saying we're hiring, they weren't, but the guy gave me an application nontheless and said to take it to any Starbucks around here and turn it in. Attempt one...futile. I then went to Old Navy which also had a sign saying "we're hiring" this time I knew better than to get excited, because apparently businesses post those for the heck of it.
One of the cashiers finally picked up on the fact that I wasn't making a purchase since I had nothing in hand, and asked me if I needed assistance, and I asked her if they were hiring, and much to my dismay they were. Apparently though at Old Navy applying for a job is a huge ordeal because before I knew it, 3 Old Navy employees were searching frantically for an application, which in the end turned out none. I was however told that I could apply online, but I am convinced that no one ever reads those because I have yet to hear back from one yet. Attempt 2 even more useless. 0-2 for the day. The only thing that really seemed to work for me today was the burger and shake from Mighty Fine that I indulged in after being shamelessly shot down on the job front. There is however some hope, Carla my "new mommy" said their always in need of childcare at the church, this sounds promising as of now. All is not lost however because one of my best friends Kayla is coming for a visit, as is my friend Nate, and today I found out that my Aunt Annie, Lexi, and my Grandma will all be making the trip to Austin, this takes me to a grand total of 5 visitors for the summer, all other willing applicants may call me, I promise you will not be shamelessly turned down.
